PSP adamant to not admit defeat, questions transparency of polls

KARACHI: Chairman of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal has raised questions on the fairness of General Elections 2018 with allegations of rigging in one of his party members’ constituency.

PSP chiarman refused to accept the outcome of elections saying that results of Karachi came out after four days.

“If votes had been counted in front of us then we would have congratulated the winners,” Kamal angrily remarked while claiming that rigging took place in the constituency of Arshad Vohra.

He further said that the Supreme Court has accepted their petition against delimitation of constituencies.

The PSP had a disastrous show in the general elections and failed to win even a single seat. PSP chief Mustafa Kamal failed miserably in one National Assembly and two provincial assembly seats, he was contesting from.

There are 21 seats of the National Assembly and 44 of the Sindh Assembly constituencies in Karachi. PSP candidates were dismally placed at fifth or sixth positions in most of the constituencies.

In PSP’s general workers session on July 30, Mustafa Kamal told his supporters not be dejected by election outcome, and continue work for the next local government elections.

“Today I announce to start preparations for the next local bodies elections,” he said, adding that the people still support him.

Refusing to admit that the party was over, the PSP chief said his opponents do not know him and his party workers, and the election defeat has ignited a determination to work for the next election.

He urged to start preparations for the next elections, and said that he would revisit every street and corner again to carry his message.
