KARACHI: Several political parties in Karachi planned city-wide protests against various issues including water shortage and over-billing by the power utility K-Electric, ARY News reported.
On Sunday, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP)’s sit-in outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) has entered into fourth day. The PSP chairman Mustafa Kamal is expected to announce a new action plan on the occasion.
The party had staged symbolic sit-ins at 12 different places of the city yesterday.
Meanwhile, Jamaat Islami (JI) has announced a new schedule of protests against K-Electric in the city. The JI has been demonstrating against power utility for its alleged over-billing and electricity load-shedding.
It staged a protest in front of power utility’s head office on Friday. Emir JI Karachi Naeem-ur-Rehman was leading the protest against inflated bills by the power utility.
The traders’ community on Saturday threatened to join protests against the power utility over unannounced electric load-shedding affecting economical activities.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) activists also staged a demonstration on Friday in Defence on water shortage against cantonment board office.
An FIR was lodged on Saturday against the party activists including three provincial lawmakers in a case to rioting during protest demonstration at cantonment board office.
Arif Alvi along with three MPAs, Samar Ali Khan, Khurram Sherzaman, and Dr. Seema Zia were nominated in the case.
