Prayer leader injured in Karachi firing incident

KARACHI: A prayer leader was injured on Saturday during a robbery attempt at Karachi’s Jamshed Road, ARY News reported.

According to police, the prayer leader was wounded while resisting a robbery attempt in the Jamshed Town area of Karachi. The injured man has been identified as Mufti Abdullah Omar.

The injured man has been shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi where his condition is said to be critical.

Local people nabbed the dacoit from the crime scene and handed over him to the police. The alleged dacoit was shifted to the police station for further investigation.

Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mahar also took notice of the firing incident and has summoned a report from SSP East.

In another firing incident, a man was killed in the city’s central district on Saturday.

The police have expressed their suspicion that the incident was not a random mugging but a target-killing as the culprits did not snatch the belongings from the slain.

According to the details in the case shared by the police, Bashir was associated as a driver with an online ride-hailing service who they suspect might have been followed and killed in a targeted bid as his belongings remained on the scene.
