PPP starts grand political dialogue to pull country out of crisis

ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership met with leaders of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and the National Democratic Movement (NDM) and discussed the prospects of a larger dialogue among all political parties

The PPP dialogue committee, led by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and including Qamar Zaman Kaira and Syed Naveed Qamar, held talks with BNP-M leaders Agha Hasan Baloch, Hashim Notizai and Naseema Ahsan Shah.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had formed a committee to engage with allies in the coalition government to reach a consensus on dialogue with all political parties.

Addressing a press conference along with Hashim Notezai, Gillani said that only political forces could address all the challenges being faced by the county.

After taking all the allies of the government, the PPP would approach the opposition parties for a meaningful dialogue, he added, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would also be taken into confidence on the matter.

Earlier, Taking to Twitter, Naveed Qamar wrote: “In continuation of PPP policy of dialogue with political parties to move the constitutional process forward, our team visited BNP-Mengal. They wholeheartedly supported the effort and committed to help with the process”.

In another tweet, the minister thanked the parliamentarians for electing him as chairman of the parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.
