According to Punjab Health Department, the immunization process will continue till 13th January.
18 million children upto the age of five will be immunized in the drive. The health department has formed 39,000 teams that will administer the drops to the children.
The first polio case of Punjab this year was reported from Rahim Yar Khan in which two-year old named Zar Gul fell victim to the virus.
Pakistan is amongst the few countries in the world where polio is still prevailent. However, World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Pakistan has seen a major fall in polio cases.
Dozens of polio volunteers have been killed by militants who claim that the drives are conducted to spy on their operations.
