PESHAWAR: Police arrested three more protesting doctors after baton-charge that resulted in injuries to several medics at Hayatabad Medical Complex, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
A clash between doctors and police personnel erupted when the protesting young doctors entered the wards and outpatient department (OPD) and chanted slogans against government, prompting police to baton-charge them for obstructing the smooth working of the health facility.
The police action resulted in injuries to several doctors while three more doctors were arrested on charge of disrupting the functioning of the hospital, increasing the total tally of arrested medics to 15.
Similar scenes were also witnessed yesterday at the health facility when a number of doctors had tried to close the wards and OPD in a bid to register their protest.
Following a call given by the Young Doctors Association (YDA), doctors have been on strike for the second consecutive day to press the government to accept their demands. Their demands included monetary compensation for the martyred doctors and implementation of service structure for doctors.
