KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday urged philanthropists to donate generously to to provide best possible medical facilities for cancer treatment.
Addressing a fundraising ceremony for Cancer Care Hospital in Karachi, the prime minister said the government is providing the best medical facilities. However, he said more funds are needed to fight diseases like cancer which require heavy expenses and resources are inadequate.
He stressed the public-private partnership can solve the problem. He expressed satisfaction that the Cancer Care Hospital is providing the best possible health facilities, and urged the hospital administration to make more arrangements for cancer treatment.
The prime minister announced 100 million rupees for the Cancer Care Hospital. He urged philanthropists to generously donate to make this project a success in providing best medical care.
PM Abbasi arrived in Karachi on Sunday and was received by Governor Sindh Muhahmmad Zubair. Both discussed a range of issues uncluding the Karachi operation, law and order situation and other developmental projects.
Governor Sindh briefed the prime minister on the development projects funded by the federal government. PM Abbasi directed him to ensure that all projects are completed within their stipulated time period.
PM Abbasi advised him that to make maximum efforts to provide relief to the residents of Karachi during the holy month of Ramazan. He also urged him to provide fool-proof security during the month, and to play a role to address the water shortage facing the city.
