PM to inaugurate train tracking system today: Rasheed

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, on Monday announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate a system ‘Pak Rail Live Tracking’ on Tuesday (Feb 12) that will enable people to track location of trains boarded by their loved ones, ARY News reported.

In his video message on Twitter, Rasheed explained that people will be able to track location and time of the train through tracker mobile app of the Pakistan Railways. He said the tracking system will also be available on freight trains.

He also stated that Thal Express would also be inaugurated. He said that ‘Thal Express’ train would run between Rawalpindi and Multan via Muzafargarh, Layyah, Bhakar, Kundian and Mianwali.

Thal Express will depart from Rawalpindi, and Multan at the same time on 7am on Feb 13. In continuation of the tradition of Pakistan Railways, people will be able to travel free-of-cost in the train, the minister added.

“I will personally monitor the tracking system,” he added.

He hailed the PR workers for their efforts to provide coaches for newly introduced trains.

In a statement, the minister also informed that a new VVIP train ‘Jinnah Express’ between Lahore and Karachi, would be operative from March 30, whereas another VVIP train ‘Sir Syed Express’ train would also be introduced later.

He said that five major railway stations of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Haiderabad and Rawalpindi would be renovated immediately.
