PM approves Rs4mn for heroic efforts of two locals in Neelum bridge collapse incident

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday approved Rs4 million for those who risked their lives while attempting to save others during the unfortunate incident of bridge collapse in District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir on May 13.

In recognition of their sacrifice and heroic efforts, Rs3 million will be given to the parent of Saim Shafaat, son of Shafaat Hussain, and Rs1 million will be rewarded to Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah.

Saim Shafaat, 12, sacrificed his life while making a heroic effort to warn tourists of the imminent collapse of the bridge in the Kundal Shai area of District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir on May 13, 2018.

Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah risked his life to save two tourists from drowning in the same incident.

The Prime Minister has directed Finance Division to immediately transfer the amount of Rs4 million to the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for payment to the nominees.
