ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reached Karachi on Tuesday morning to inspect the ongoing multinational “Aman-17” naval exercise on its concluding day, ARY News reported.
International naval exercise “Aman-17” kicked off in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Karachi. Ships, aircrafts, helicopters, Special Operations Forces (SOF), Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD), marines and observers from regional as well as extra-regional navies participating the exercise.
The naval exercise will conclude today.
According to details, Sharif arrived the port city on a daylong tour to watch the ongoing naval exercise.
The prime minister will meet the political leadership and chair a meeting in Karachi in which he will be briefed on the law and order situation and the development projects in the metropolis.
After watching the concluding session of the naval exercise, the prime minister will leave for Lahore where at least 13 people — including two senior police officials — were killed and at least 108 others were injured when a suicide attacker blew himself up during a protest staged by chemists on Monday evening.
The prime minister shortened his visit of Karachi in the wake of Lahore terrorist attack. He will not visit the construction site of Green Line bus project due to the change in his schedule of Karachi visit.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also chair a key security meeting in Lahore.
