PM Nawaz Sharif visits Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the Foreign Office on Friday, ARY News reported.

Accompanied by finance minister Ishaq Dar and adviser on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz, the prime minister paid a visit to the foreign office where he was briefed on the country’s foreign policy and its relations with neighbouring countries.

Sources said the premier also presided over a meeting of foreign office’s top officials who briefed him about the latest developments around the globe concerning the Pakistan’s foreign policy, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America, the prevailing situation in India-held Kashmir, the crisis engulfing the Gulf countries, and tense relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The meeting also discussed the meetings of Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi

with higher authorities in Pakistan and Afghanistan to help resolve the current crisis between the two immediate neighbours.

The Indian prime minister had visited the USA earlier this week to revitalize the Dehli’s ties with Washington and strike a deal with the latter to buy advanced military hardware.

Subsequently, Foreign Office of Pakistan had expressed its deep concern over the sale of sophisticated military equipment to India, saying they would undermine strategic balance in the region.

Spokesperson said Pakistan stands ready and committed to resolve all outstanding disputes, especially Jammu and Kashmir, with India through peaceful means.
