PM Nawaz Sharif says Kashmir issue to be fully highlighted at UNGA

He was talking to Hurriyat leaders in Muzaffarabad on Friday ahead of his visit to New York to attend UN General Assembly session when he said that he would also take up the issue of Kashmir during his bilateral meetings with different world leaders.

Sharid also assured that Pakistan would continue its moral, diplomatic and political support for right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people which was also accepted by the international community.

The Prime Minister urged the United Nations to fulfill its pledge to Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination as per resolutions of the world body, and that Pakistan would raise Kashmir issue at every global forum.

He regretted that brutalities against people of Indian-Occupied Kashmir have reached to the extreme, and that the Kashmiris are demanding nothing but justice and right of self-determination.

He said history bears testimony to the fact that such movements cannot be suppressed through use of force. He expressed the confidence that the movement of Kashmiris would succeed.

The Hurriyat leaders thanked the Prime Minister for taking them into confidence before embarking upon his US visit. Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Masood Khan and Prime Minister Sardar Farooq Haider were also present during the meeting.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ch. Barjees Tahir and Special Assistants to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and Dr. Asif Kirmani accompanied the Prime Minister.
