PM Khan meets Sikh, Hindu community representatives; minorities’ welfare discussed

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday met the representatives of Sikh and Hindu communities and apprised them of the decisions taken by the government for the welfare of minorities, ARY News reported.

Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri, PTI MNA Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, President Pakistan Hindu Council Gopal Khamuani, Tara Singh, and others including  ministers and community representatives were also present during the meeting.

The PM also held consultations with the community members regarding different issues.

The prime minister decided to form a task force in the Evacuee Trust Property Board (Matrooka Waqf Imlaak Board) which will be entitled to moot recommendations for eradication of corruption from within the department.

He said shrines should be properly looked after and steps be taken for eliminating corruption.

It was also decided during the meeting that the management of Evacuee Trust Property Board would be transferred to the Board of Management.

The PM said the Board of Management members will comprise from Sikh and Hindu communities. Khan said chairmen of previous committees used to be appointed on political basis.

The members of both the communities thanked the PM for his gesture.

PM Khan reiterated the provision of rights to minorities was the priority of the government.

He stated that the government would take on board representatives of minorities before reaching any decision on the matters concerning them.
