ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday has summoned an inquiry report into prevailing gas crisis in the country within three days, ARY News reported.
Taking notice of the ongoing gas crisis, that is disturbing routine life and commercial activities across the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting to review the situation here in the federal capital today.
Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan apprised the premier about the current situation.
After getting the briefing from the concerned officials, PM asked minister for petroleum to submit an inquiry report within 72 hours, and ordered to take immediate action against the officials involved in the negligence.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to further integrate demand and supply of gas to avoid any crisis in future.
The
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had announced late Tuesday that it was discontinuing gas supply to CNG stations and captive power plants of all general industries for an “indefinite period of time.”The gas supply company said it was facing acute shortage of gas and low pressure in the system.
The SSGC spokesperson had assured that all household consumers will receive gas at all costs, however, after fixing the technical faults in the field, the CNG sector and industries will be supplied gas by the gas company.
Earlier today, the talks between the officials from Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and the CNG association ended without any positive outcome.
Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has also appealed the government for immediate restoration of gas supply to CNG stations.
