PM Imran denies demanding Nawaz-era expense record of PM House

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday denied demanding any details or record relating to PM House expenses during ex-premier Nawaz Sharif’s era, ARY News reported.

According to ARY News Islamabad Bureau Chief Sabir Shakir,  the PM, in a meeting with senior journalists, was asked about a claim made by a journalist associated with a private media house that he demanded PM Office staff about expenses during the former PM Nawaz Sharif’s tenure and was showed cheques confirming the PML-N supreme leader paid expenses incurred on his family from his own pocket.

“Neither I demanded Nawaz-era expenditure of PM House and nor was shown any record of payment by Nawaz Sharif,” Imran Khan replied.

The ARY News journalist also reported that Imran Khan answered all sorts of questions by journalists and said that their criticism will help him evaluate and improve governance.

About the Pakpattan incident, the PM said that now that the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) has taken a suo motu notice of the incident, the matter will be resolved.

A journalist working for a private media channel reported on August 20 that soon after taking charge as PM, Imran Khan demanded from the PM House staff to produce the record of Nawaz-era expenses but was told that the PML-N supreme leader paid expenses incurred on his family from his own pocket.

“As he couldn’t believe what the PM House staff claimed, he was shown the cheques Mian Nawaz Sharif submitted to pay the expenses,” the journalist had said.
