PM holds separate meetings with interior minister, Fazlur Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Amid changing political and security situation in the country and anti-government movements in the offing, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held two separate meetings with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Jamiat Ulema Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday.

During his meeting, Chaudhry Nisar briefed the premier on matters related to the internal security of the country.

The minister also apprised PM Sharif about his recent trip to Torkham, one of the major International border crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Later, current political situation and the progress of the ongoing Karachi operation also came under discussion.

Nisar told PM Sharif that the centre spent Rs 70 billion to raise wings of civil armed forces for effective border management and internal security.

In a separate meeting, Maulana Fazalur Rehman called on the premier at his official residence today (Tuesday) and discussed current political situation amid Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary event at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in which Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is set to give some ‘good news’ to the nation.

Both the leaders also discussed the federal government’s development projects in the provinces of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan.
