ISLAMABAD: Federal government has decided to award “Hilal-i-Imtiaz” to the late federal minister Maulana Abdul Shakoor for his extraordinary public services, ARY News reported on Monday.
According to details mentioned in a statement released on the social networking website Twitter by the website of Social Relations,
Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb released a statement on the social networking website, Twitter, stating that Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif has announced to award of the “Hilal-i-Imtiaz” to the late federal minister Maulana Abdul Shakoor for his extraordinary public services.
Maryam Aurangzeb mentioned that Maulana Abdul Shakoor was a person of humility and lived a simple life and served the people sincerely. In this regard, the Cabinet Division has been instructed to send a summary in a formal manner.
It is pertinent to mention here that Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor died in a road accident on April 15, in Islamabad.
In a statement, Islamabad police said that the federal minister was travelling to Secretariat Chowk from Marriott near Iftar timings when a Hilux Revo carrying five men hit his car.
Maulana Abdul Shakoor was shifted to Polyclinic Hospital but he could not survive and succumbed to his injuries.
Five people were travelling in the Hilux Revo and they, along with their vehicle, have been taken into custody, police added. Further investigation is underway, police added.
Mufti Shakoor was an MNA of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) from the erstwhile tribal areas.
