PIA to take action against absentee crew members

KARACHI: Taking notice of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) employees’ absenteeism, the national flag carrier’s management has decided to act against its more than 100 crew members for remaining absent from duty.

The management has prepared a list of such employees who will be served show-cause notices to explain their absence from their duty.

Among the absentee crew members, 54 are from Karachi, 65 from Lahore, 62 from Islamabad and 15 from Peshawar.

“Upon scrutiny of attendance record, it revealed that above crew remained ABS/CSL from duties without approval of leave,” read a statement accompanying details of the absentee employees.

“Keeping in view the above attendance record, it is recommended that show cause notice many be issued to them on account of unauthorised ABS from duties as per rules of the corporation.”
