PDM in session to decide opposition strategy against government

ISLAMABAD: A summit session of opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has been underway with Maulana Fazlur Rehman in chair, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The PDM session is being attended by PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Bilal Kayani, National Party’s Abdul Malik, Aftab Sherpao of Qaumi Watan Party, Awais Noorani, Hafiz Abdul Karim, Siddiqul Farooq and Hafiz Hamdullah.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz attending the meeting on video-link.

PML-N leaders Ahsan Iqbal, Ishaq Dar and Abid Sher Ali were also attending session on video-link.

The PDM session at PML-N Secretariat is expected to discuss the strategy for Islamabad long-march and a joint strategy against the incumbent government, including a proposal to bring an in-house change in Centre, sources said.

The multi-party opposition alliance, had announced that it will kick off its long march towards Islamabad on March 23.

Earlier PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif had given go-ahead to his party to go for an in-house change. The progress was made in backdoor contacts between the PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), according to sources.

Nawaz Sharif has given go ahead for efforts to bring an in-house change, sources said. Some PML-N leaders have also confirmed the development.
