ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday said that Pakistan wanted peace and stability in Afghanistan and its position in this regard was quite clear.
According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, in response to a media query regarding President Ashraf Ghani’s statement, the minister said that Pakistan would contribute and play its due role in all the initiatives for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Ashraf Ghani in his Eid-ul-Azha message to Pakistan has offered comprehensive negotiations to bring peace to the troubled ties.
“From here, I have a message to Pakistan. We are ready for comprehensive political talks. Peace with Pakistan is on our national agenda,” he said.
Khawaja Asif said bilateral, trilateral, quadrilateral and multilateral mechanisms for dialogue and interaction with Afghanistan were already in place and those should be utilized to their full potential.
He said both sides had recognized the need for political to political, military to military and intelligence to intelligence cooperation.
