ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s senate has approved the controversial Protection of Pakistan Bill 2014 on Monday, ARY News reported.
Senator Talha Mahmood informed media that the standing committee has approved the bill but it should not be used against religious seminaries.
Acccording to details, the senate session presided by deputy speaker Sabir Baloch and senator Zahid Hamid presented PPO 2014.
Talha Mahmood presented the standing committee report in the session and asked government to give assurance regarding the misuse of bill against religious seminaries.
The senate session also prayed for the martyrs of Model Town incident in Lahore.
It is pertinent to note here that all opposition parties opposed the bill when it was presented in country’s National Assembly terming it against human and civilian rights.
