Pakistan needs democracy which could bring reforms in system, says Musharraf

In his exclusive word with Mubashir Lucman during ARY News program ‘Khara Sach’, Pervez Musharraf said that the democracy being run by the current rulers is not a true democracy, first changes and reforms are required then the elections should be held in the country.

He said that restructuring of the system is utmost necessary, while local body elections should also be held here to provide relief to the suffering people.

Responding to US State Department’s statement on Imran Khan and Pakistan politics, Musharraf suggested the United States (US) not to interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan. He said, “I had a clear stance before America, which was Pakistan first”.

The former President said as long as there is Pakistan Army, balkanization cannot take place here. He said that the military will not let Pakistan break, there was absence of a strong military in Iraq and so it had to face destruction.

General (R) Pervez Musharraf said Pakistan currently needs a system which could aid in developing it.

Speaking about the former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, he said, “We tried to expose him by sending a reference of his corruption to the Supreme Judicial Council, but the reference was never heard”.

It was further added that the reference contained all the evidences of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s corruption.

The former President said, “There is a need of a third political force in the country, for which I had formed All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and had envisioned formation of a political alliance with like-minded parties as that of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)”.

He continued further saying, “When I realized that the people are not in favor of me, I stepped down from my post in 2007”.

Pervez Musharraf said that Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri are justified in their struggle, for the people here are not being given their rights, instead they are being ill-treated.
