Pakistan, Iran agree to expand cooperation in diverse fields

Addressing a joint news conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, said they have held constructive and positive talks to expand their bilateral cooperation.

Sartaj Aziz said there are vast opportunities to enhance mutual cooperation.

He said extensive talks were held on Pak-Iran cooperation in energy sector and Pakistani side expressed their eagerness to initiate work on gas pipeline from Iran at the earliest. He said Pakistan welcomes the agreement on nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers hoping that it will lead to peace and stability at international level.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said his country intends to expand economic cooperation with Pakistan besides increasing this cooperation on regional level.  He said during the talks both the sides held discussion on extremism and regional situation.

He said Iran fully supports dialogue between Taliban and Afghan government with the assistance of Pakistan and hoped a very positive outcome which will help bring peace and security in the region.
