NEW YORK: Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif held a meeting with Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) here.
The duo expressed grave concern on the situation in Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir, especially the ongoing atrocities and attacks on civilians in two territories by security forces.
Khawaja Asif congratulated the Secretary General on his dynamic leadership of the organization while lauding the role of Arab League in establishing stability within the Muslim World.
On the occasion, Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace especially among the Muslim states.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s fraternal relations with Arab League members, the Secretary General opined that Pakistan can play its role in addressing the challenges confronted by the Muslim world.
Subsequently, Namibia’s Foreign Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah briefed Khawaja Asif on the economic priorities of her government.
She expressed Namibia’s appreciation for Pakistan’s support in the capacity building of Namibian diplomats.
The foreign minister also met Erlan Abdyldayev, the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan.
Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction at the completion of necessary arrangements for CASA-1000 and the newly established air connectivity between the two countries.
Moreover, Foreign Minister Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi of Botswana also expressed keen desire to deepen economic, defence and educational ties with Pakistan while meeting Khawaja Asif.
