‘Pakistan is taking action against terrorists of all shades without any discrimination’

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir on Tuesday rejected the allegations of any terrorist safe havens in Pakistan.

He was speaking in Senate on Tuesday while responding to a calling attention notice moved by Sehar Kamran regarding the statement by US Intelligence Chiefs during US Senate Armed Service Committee meeting.

The statement had said that India may launch aggressive action inside Pakistan on the pretext of stopping cross-border attacks.

The Minister said the US statement is based on assessments and India is well aware of its consequences.

He said Pakistan has been on forefront in the war against terrorism. He said Pakistan is taking action against terrorists of all shades without any discrimination.

Khurram Dastgir said any aggression by India will be responded effectively by Armed Forces and people of Pakistan.

He said Pakistan does not desire escalation of tension but will fully safeguard people living along the Line of Control.

The Minister said after successful completion of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is underway for eradication of terrorism.

The Senate was informed today that Revival of Forestry Resources Project has been initiated under Prime Minister’s Green Program in all the four provinces to increase forest cover in the country.

Responding to a question, Minister of Climate Change Mushahid Ullah Khan informed the House that under the project hundred million trees will be planted at a cost of 3.652 billion rupees.

To a question, Minister for Commerce and Textile Muhammad Pervaiz Malik informed the House that the government has taken a number of steps to increase the export of fresh and dry fruits of the country.

Responding to a call attention notice, moved by Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Tarar said medicines are being provided to people in the country are of international standards.

She said state of the art building was set up for Federal Drug Surveillance Laboratory in Islamabad but the previous government established a medical college there.

She said now negotiations are underway for vacation of the building and hopefully, within four months the building will be vacated and subsequently the laboratory will be set up there.
