Opposition parties’ talks for unified front in final phase: Fazalur Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Maulana Fazal ur Rehman said Thursday that contacts among opposition parties, to form a unified political front against the incumbent government, are in their final phase.

He stated that all opponent parties are determined to play their part from one platform as an integrated opposition against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Chief of his own party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F), Maulana pilloried Premier Imran Khan and remarked, “The desire of Imran Khan to be the prime minister has been fulfilled, now there is darkness ahead.”

Apparently, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has again taken the task of bringing all opposition parties on one page; yesterday, he made a telephonic contact with ousted premier Nawaz Sharif soon after meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Maulana reportedly telephoned Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and sought suggestions on the matter of calling the All Parties Conference (APC).

While inviting PML-N leader to the APC, Fazal further notified him about approaching Asif Zardari for consultations and latter’s personal participation in the upcoming unified opposition front.

As per sources, Nawaz ensured Fazal to get back on his invitation immediately after consulting with his party.

Merely few days earlier, a meeting took place between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman to devise a strategy to challenge the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
