Opposition parties chalk out strategy for NA Session, APC

ISLAMABAD: In order to chalk out strategy for an ongoing session of the National Assembly and expected All Parties Conference, the leaders hailing from the opposition parties called on opposition leader, Shehbaz Sharif in his chamber on Thursday (today).

PPP leaders,  Khursheed Shah, Naveed Qamar and JUI-F’s Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi during the meeting with Shehbaz Sharif discussed plan for an ongoing  session of the National Assembly and matters pertaining to the multi party moot of the opposition parties.

Talking to the newsmen after meeting with the opposition leader, Khursheed Shah said the opposition to present its stance in the lower house strongly, adding that we do not want to plunge country into anarchy.

Yesterday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman  postponed All Parties Conference (APC), convened by his party, for a few days.

Talking to media, Fazlur Rehman contended that a high-level meeting of his party had decided to convene a parliamentary leaders’ meeting ahead of the APC to finalize the modalities of the “all-important” meeting.

He maintained that the PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman, Asif Zardari will participate in parliamentary leaders’ conference.

It is pertinent to mention here that the differences between two major opposition parties –PPP and PML-N- had turned the prospects of a successful APC bleak.

In order to patch up with the PPP, the leadership of PML-N had highlighted the need to restore trust as its foremost precondition, said sources.

PML-N leadership had conditioned its participation in the opposition’s APC as the former ruling party was enraged over the recent statement of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in which he held PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif responsible for the cases against PPP leaders.

The PML-N had demanded from the leadership of PPP to first take steps to mend the trust deficit developed in the wake of recent political scenario.
