Nilofar subsides to cyclonic storm, can cause rainfall

The cyclone continuously losing its intensity due to declining wind speed, Mohammad Riaz an official of the weather department said.

Despite losing its ferocity the storm still can cause heavy rainfall with strong gusty winds in lower Sindh coastline and the Lasbela coast of Balochistan.

A met department advisory said that the cyclone in the Arabian Sea has weakened rapidly and converted into a ‘cyclonic storm’.

The storm is likely to further weaken into a depression over the water in northeast Arabian Sea, near the coast of lower Sindh and the Indian state of Gujarat on Friday evening or night.

The cyclonic storm would continue to move north-eastward with a speed of 12km per hour over the next 24 hours.

The government of Sindh has announced closure of academic institutions on Friday (today).

The governments of Sindh and Balochistan have prohibited the fishermen to venture into the sea due to the harsh weather.
