ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeem-ul-Haq said on Monday that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be handed down exemplary punishment by NAB court in graft references.
Speaking to media, he said the accountability court should give a punishment that makes a history. Sharif has still been at the helm of government affairs as Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was at his back and call, he added.
Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were also involved in Dawn leaks controversy, the PTI leader claimed and added they were clashing with the state institutions, but their motives will fall apart.
He said Sharif deemed himself a monarch and lived the life in quite that way.
They should be taught a lesson for running the government in an unconstitutional and undemocratic way, Haq said.
The PTI leader said that the hurdles were also created to frustrate an investigation carried out by Panama joint investigation team into Sharif’s assets and the same approach was adopted towards the NAB court proceedings.
Impression being given that Sharif was erroneously ousted, he said and added it was visible that the anti-corruption watchdog was giving in to influence of the family of Sharifs.
He demanded of the authorities concerned to place Nawaz Sharif and his children’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
