KOT MOMIN: Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday for the umpteenth time turned his guns on the Supreme Court judges for first disqualifying him as premier and then as PML-N head.
Addressing a gathering of workers here, Sharif said PML-N candidates for the Senate polls had been deprived of the party symbol of lion, and asked why they were being meted out injustice.
Blasting the judiciary, he said he was first dislodged from the office of the prime minister for not receiving salary from his son and then was disqualified from the party presidency.
He said renowned lawyers as well as politicians acknowledged that the court decision was not correct. Even PTI chief Imran Khan himself conceded that the reason on which he was disqualified was weak one, he added.
Amid slogans against the Supreme Court verdicts against him, Sharif said his disqualification mutilated the sanctity of votes.
Those who will not respect votes, people will not respect them, he declared.
He claimed he fulfilled his promises of eradicating load-shedding and terrorism from the country. The economy was suffering and inflation was increasing owing to his disqualification, he said.
The PML-N leader said plans were afoot to push Pakistan backwards, but people will not let such machinations succeed.
The ruling party was being meted out unfair treatment and this was pre-poll rigging, he claimed and added people will foil all such schemes.
The schemes were being spun to debar him from doing politics, he added.
