Nawaz Sharif has decided to bring new prime minister, says Sheikh Rashid

RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid said on Sunday that Nawaz Sharif has decided to bring a new prime minister anticipating his disqualification by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media at his residence here in Rawalpindi, he predicted there will be a good number of defections from the PML-N the moment the Supreme Court sends Nawaz Sharif packing.

“Around 40 MNAs were ready to ditch Sharif to rejoin the party of former president retired general Pervez Musharraf,” he added.

PM Nawaz Sharif will be shown the exit door next week and therefore, he was mulling over the names of his aides for premiership, the AML chief said.

Commenting on the names circulating as replacement of Nawaz Sharif, he said that if Defense Minister Khawaja Asif is selected, it would widen rift within the party as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were not happy with his nomination as the new premier.

H added that if National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is elected, another Prime Minister House will be set up in Lahore which Sharifs won’t tolerate.
