KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Thursday said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif needed no immunity from court appearance to visit his ailing spouse in London, ARY News reported.
“The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court does not give immunity to a person even if he himself is ailing. It has very rare chance. Plus, these are military cases, not common ones,” he said while talking to ARY News program ‘Off The Record’.
However, Aitzaz said, the NAB court had summoned them on March 27, so they had enough time to visit ailing Begum Kusloom Nawaz in London as they did not have their names on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Nawaz had pleaded the court for exemption from appearance for seven days which was turned down.

The PPP stalwart said if Kulsoom Nawaz was not well, they must go and return after visiting her in three days.
“They do not need to take permission or immunity from court for this purpose. They are free to go and they should,” he said.
He said as far as immunity was concerned, common people do not even get bail, what to talk of immunity.
He also said despite NAB’s recommendation to put their names on the ECL, their government had not made any progress in this regard.
