Nadra directs to deliver CNICs before 25th, says expired cards also eligible for voting

ISLAMABAD: Directing for expediting printing of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs), the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Friday said all the expired ID cards were also eligible for voting.

This was announced in a high-level meeting of the Nadra in Islamabad, presided over by its chairman Usman Mobeen.

The meeting took decisions regarding on-time printing of CNICs and their delivery before July 25 and directed to continue printing process 24 hours a day and open all Nadra offices across the country.

The offices will remain open on Saturday and Sunday and even on the election day till 2 p.m.

The meeting decided to print all ID Cards including those of normal category on urgent basis in view of the upcoming elections on 25th.

“All applications for new ID Cards received before 16th of this month are being processed expeditiously, whereas, NADRA is not confiscating the old ID Cards of the applicants since July 16,” Nadra said.

The authority has directed the concerned courier company to ensure the dispatch of ID cards on weekends too.
