NAB unearths links of detained KDA director with fake bank accounts: sources

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday discovered a connection between arrested Karachi Development Authority (KDA) director Jamil Baloch and fake bank accounts, ARY News reported.

Sources in the NAB told ARY News that Baloch was now being moved to Islamabad in view of his alleged involvement in money laundering through fake bank accounts.

The top KDA official was also presented before the accountability court today. The NAB acquired four-day transit remand of the suspect.

Jamil Baloch was being transferred to Islamabad so investigators could grill the KDA bigwig in the case already going on in the capital city.

Baloch is the same officer who had mysteriously gone missing from Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area in 2016 and was found three days later from near airport area. Some unidentified men had kidnapped the officer whose reasons are still not yet known.

On April 19, the National Accountability Bureau had apprehended Karachi Development Authority Director Jamil Baloch on charges of land grabbing in Karachi.

A source privy to the matter, said that Jamil Baloch was involved in China-cutting, illegal constructions, fake NOCs and other irregularities in KDA.

The sources further said that the KDA’s officer  was also involved in 60 acres land encroachment on the Malir riverbed area.

Earlier, the NAB on April 10 had filed a fourth reference against former Karachi Development Authority (KDA) director Nasir Abbas and others with an accountability court in a case pertaining to illegal allotment of 14 plots in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
