NAB conducting raids to arrest PML-N’s Captain Safdar

ABBOTTABAD: A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team is conducting raids in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to arrest Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (retd) Safdar, sources told ARY News on Saturday.

According to sources, a NAB Lahore team has conducted raids in Abbottabad and Mansehra districts of province to arrest PML-N leader and former PM Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar after his conviction in the Avenfield case.

Safdar, along with his wife Maryam Nawaz and father-in-law Nawaz Sharif were sentenced to prison by an accountability court on Friday. Mian Nawaz Sharif was given 10 years as jail time for owning assets beyond income and 1 year for not cooperating with NAB in the Avenfield properties corruption reference filed by NAB.

Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years for abetment, and Captain Safdar 1 year for non-cooperation with the anti-graft authority.

Safdar, who was also about to contest polls from Mansehra, was in the city when the verdict was announced but is on the run after the verdict.

Source say his ancestral home in Mansehra is empty while the NAB team, aided by KP police, is conducting raids across the province for his arrest.

On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif have announced that they are returning to country on Friday.
