Musharraf slams deprivation of women's rights in Pakistan

He was addressing a ceremony organized by All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) women wing in Islamabad on account of International Women’s Day.

Pervez Musharraf said that the women were not granted their due rights even though when a female prime minister was ruling the country.

He claimed that he decided to empower the women as soon as he rose to power and that he is also accredited for the representation of women in national and provincial assemblies and the Senate.

The former president slammed the ones in power for their dual policies and not giving due status to women which the Islam preaches.

He said that the female students at educational institutions countrywide have better academic credentials than the male.
