LAHORE: Former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Friday founded a 23-party alliance as chairman with the title of Pakistan Awami Ittehad (PAI), ARY News reported.
“The alliance formed in Karachi broke within a few hours for lack of leadership. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has become ill-famed, therefore, Mohajir community should gather under one umbrella with new name,” he said offering Mohajir leaderships to join him in his bid to unite the Pakistani nation. He also brushed aside the notion that he would become head of MQM-Pakistan or Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

While addressing leadership of the new alliance through telephone, he expressed hope that the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) would also become part of their alliance.
“Pervaiz Elahi led a good government in Punjab,” he said praising the PML-Q that was an integral part of Musharraf’s government in 2000s.
Musharraf said the situation of the country was deteriorating and it was time that they should take big decisions for the national politics and one of the big decisions was to unite all under one umbrella.
He favoured snap polls in case the circumstances do not get better.

The former president said chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) thought about his party rather than Pakistan. He worked according to his mind, he said.
He said he was proud that the military and judiciary were working in right direction.
