PPP has decided to replace Qaim Ali Shah as the provincial minister for which another PPP leader Syed Murad Ali Shah has been selected as the best option.
Qaim Ali Shah also had a one-on-one meeting with Murad Ali Shah – the son of former chief minister Syed Abdullah Shah – today.
Reasons for removing Qaim Ali Shah, who has been serving as Chief Minister Sindh since 2008, could not be confirmed yet.
However, reports have been circulating that PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had reservations over his continuance in office as the provincial chief minister.
Party sources told ARY News that during a planned parliamentary meeting of PPP Sindh on Wednesday, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is would take members into confidence on the likely changes within party’s provincial government set-up.
He is expected to land in Karachi today (Tuesday) for the much-awaited meeting.
During the meeting, junior Shah’s appointment as Chief Minister Sindh could be announced formally, sources claimed and confirmed that the Qaim Ali Shah would also submit his resignation to the Governor of Sindh today.
The nomination process of the new provincial chief minister would be made on July 28 following which Sindh’s chief minister-designate would seek a vote of confidence in the Sindh Assembly session on Friday.
PPP decided to replace Qaim Ali Shah during a high-level in Dubai convened by PPP Chairman and former President Asif Ali Zardari actually for finalising a decision on expanding the scope of special policing powers of Rangers in Sindh.
More changes within the provincial cabinet including changes in the portfolios of some ministers are too in the offing including Sohail Anwar Siyal’s departure as Sindh Home Minister by PPP’s veteran Nisar Khuhro, party sources said.
The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah believed that if the party leadership has taken a decision to remove Qaim Ali Shah from his post, it must be in favour of the party.
