MULTAN: Two alleged terrorists were shot dead in an encounter with Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) while three others managed to flee from gun battle site after taking an advantage of darkness here on Thursday night.
According to CTD sources, a raid was conducted on an intelligence tip-off about terrorists taking refuge at a house in Jalalpur Pirwala area.
Sensing the arrival of CTD personnel, the suspects opened fire on the raiding team as they approached the house, where the terrorists were taking shelter.
In retaliatory firing the CTD personnel killed two suspects after heavy exchange of fire while three others managed to flee, taking an advantage of darkness.
The anti-terrorism department has identified one of the slain terrorists as Ajmal.
CTD officials also claimed to recover huge cache of arms and ammunition including explosive material, a rifle and pistol from the possession of slain terrorists.
A search operation in the area is underway to arrest terrorists who fled during the raid, CTD officials said.
