KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement – Pakistan parliamentarian in Sindh assembly Jamal Ahmed on Saturday survived an assassination bid after unknown assailants opened fire at his vehicle.
A statement by the MQM-P said that Jamal Ahmed received bullet wounds but survived the incident. The assailant opened fire at Ahmed as he stepped out of his car in North Karachi.
SSP Central Muqaddas Haider said that a motorcyclist opened fire and fled from the scene. Police have recovered shells of 30-bore pistol from the crime scene.
He said that there was a distance between Ahmed and the assailant who also resorted to aerial firing. He said the case is being investigated from different angles.
It may be recalled that a protest was held against Jamal Ahmed’s residence after the slanderous speech and anti-state slogans were raised on August 22 last year.
