MQM forms committee to hold talks with PTI over by-polls’ reservations

KARACHI: Muthaida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has constituted a three member committee to hold talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) over their reservations pertaining to Pakistan quarters eviction and by-election results.

Three-member committee comprising Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Faisal Sabzwari and Khawaja Izharul Hasan has been tasked to speak to the result and come up with results in a month.

The committee will share qualms over non-implementation of the written agreement between MQM and PTI with reference to probe into results of constituencies, according to sources.

Earlier today, Police fired water cannon, teargas shells and baton charged the Pakistan Quarters’ residents who have been protesting against eviction orders, issued by the top court.

Sensing the importance of the issue, Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah issued directives for the police to stop the eviction operation against the residents of the colony.

“Chief minister has summoned a report from the authorities concerned into the matter”, said Adviser to CM on Information, Law & Anti-Corruption, Barrister Murtaza Wahab.

Meanwhile, CJP, Mian Saqib Nisar on the request of Governor Sindh, Imran Ismail deferred the expulsion to avoid any unpleasant incident and for peaceful solution of the problem.

On October 22, MQM-P rejected the by-election results in two Karachi constituencies.

MQM-P Deputy Convener Kanwar Naveed Jameel and other party leaders in a press conference on Sunday alleged that the results were changed in the end time claiming that the MQM candidates were leading the race with hundreds of votes earlier.

The PTI candidates Aftab Siddiqui and Shahzad Qureshi were declared winners in the by election at NA-247 and PS-111 in Karachi held on October 21in the metropolitan city.

Khawaja Izhar, during the press conference alleged that the results were changed after the polling practice.

The MQM leader went to say that, when we are being expelled from every place why don’t we quit the government?. “It is not compulsion for us to remain in government,” he added.
