More PTI leaders quit party over May 9 riots

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) got another blow to dealt with as former Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Dr. Hisham Inamullah, PTI leader Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and KP CM spokesperson Ajmal Wazir announced to leave PTI, ARY News reported on Saturday.

In three different press conferences, Dr. Hisham Inamullah, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah and Ajmal Wazir strongly condemned the May 9 events and announced to leave PTI.

The former minister of KP mentioned that the PTI chief Imran Khan and certain individuals from his party turned against state institutions. He termed the May 9 incident ‘disgraceful’ as martyrs’ pictures were burned and their statues were demolished by miscreants.

“It a personal insult to continue being associated with the PTI and will be equivalent to disloyalty to the country,  submitted his resignation.

“being associated with the PTI will be equivalent to disloyalty to the country which I consider a personal insult, I hereby tender my resignation,” Hisham Inamullah said.

Those who harbor enmity towards the country cannot remain with me. There is no pressure on me to leave the party. My decision is based on my conscience. This country and its armed forces are mine, and I cannot compromise on them.

In his presser, the former minister said that the he cannot stay with those who are hostile to the country, adding that there is no pressure on him to leave PTI but solely his decision.

“It is my country and my army, I cannot compromise on them,” he added.

The former minister further added that our youth sacrifice their lives for the country, adding that his decision would be different if PTI chief Imran Khan condemned the May 9 events and should have visited the memorials of the martyrs after his release.
