Rangers arrested Rafiq Rajput from Mehmoodabad.
Rangers spokesperson claimed that Rafiq Rajput alias Kain is an Incharge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Mehmoodabad sector and has confessed about his involvement in the violent incidents of May 12, 2007 along with a number of target killing and land grabbing incidents.
Rajput also confessed to protect target killers including the notorious Raees Mama and storing the firearms used in the crime.
The May 12 tragedy was one of the grimmest incidents in the history of Karachi when on the arrival of then Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry several people were killed in armed clashes between workers of different political parties.
The suspect will be presented in court on today (Monday).
