Maulana Abdul Shakoor death: Court grant physical remand of driver

Islamabad: The court has granted two-day physical remand of Rao Gul Khan, the driver of the car involved in the accident, to the police in which Maulana Abdul Shakoor lost his life, ARY News reported on Sunday.

According to details, the police produced the driver Rao Gul Khan before Magistrate Malik Aman at the District and Sessions Court Islamabad.

The driver’s lawyer Fahim Haider and the Investigation Officer (IO) of Secretariat Police Station also appeared before the court with records. The investigating officer requested a seven-day physical remand of the driver, Rao Gul Khan.

The IO said that there were five

people in the car that hit Maulana Abdul Shakoor, and the driver was arrested at the scene, whereas, two other passengers in Rau Gul Khan’s car got severely injured and he is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Furthermore, the investigating officer informed the court that the driver’s other two accomplices had fled the scene last night. The investigation is still pending for the accused’s drug test and the arrest of the other two accomplices.

“This is a sensitive matter and it requires sufficient time for investigations and inspections,” the officer said.

After the hearing, the court granted a two-day physical remand of the accused driver, Rao Gul Khan, to the police.
