Maryam Nawaz undecided about her return to Pakistan

LONDON: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former premier Nawaz Sharif told ARY News that she has not made any plans about her return to Pakistan yet.

While citing the critical condition of her mother, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that her mother Kulsoom Nawaz is still on ventilator. Maryam requested the nation to pray for her mother’s recovery.

On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif, in an interview to BBC Urdu, said that the condition of his wife, Begum Kulsoom, has gotten better to some extent but she is not completely out of danger yet.

Nawaz lamented: “If he had visited his wife before last Thursday, he would at least have been able to find her conscious.”

“[Begum] Kulsoom’s condition is better compared to before. [I wish] I had [reached here] before [last] Thursday, she was at least in a conscious state then,” he said, and requested for prayers for his ailing wife.

On June 13, deposed prime minister Nawaz along with Maryam flew to London. On June 18, the duo was expected to come back from London but they delayed their return owing to critical condition of former first lady of Pakistan.

The wife of erstwhile prime minister was admitted to Harley Street Clinic on June 14 after suffering a cardiac arrest and has been on life support since. Begum Kulsoom had been undergoing treatment for throat cancer for past few months.

Earlier today, president of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Shehbaz Sharif returned to Pakistan from London after tending to his sister-in-law.
