Opponents trying to run away from elections, says Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Monday said that opponent political parties are now trying to run away from general elections after foreseeing defeat at the hands of PML-N, ARY News reported.

Speaking during a party convention in the capital, the PML-N leader and daughter of former PM Nawaz Sharif, said that opponents tried every trick in their book but couldn’t decrease the popularity of Nawaz Sharif and now wish to delay elections due to “imminent defeat”.

“There is no party that can beat PML-N, they, who are sending PML-N leaders in other parties and trying to rig polls should keep

in mind that  Nawaz Sharif can go to Lahore from Islamabad (after disqualification) he can also come to Islamabad (for anti-rigging protests)… and he will be accompanied by large number of people,” said Maryam Nawaz.

She urged the people of capital to vote for PML-N in large numbers to throw out the disqualification verdict and foil the conspiracies of the opponents against PML-N.

She also asked party workers to keep their smartphones with them and record videos in case they see anyone trying to rig elections.

‘Respect Vote’ Slogan Similar to ‘Go Imran Go’

Former PM and PML-N’s lifelong leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, on his turn, promised people that if they elect PML-N to power again, he will not let anyone “disrespect their vote”.

“If you choose us, you, the people, will punish those who disrespect your vote,” said Nawaz Sharif.

The three-time PM reminded people about the development projects his party’s government completed and demanded that other parties too should be asked about their performance when they demand vote.

As he misheard the slogan “Vote Ko Izzat Do” (Respect Vote) as “Go Imran Go”, he said that both the slogans carry the same meaning.
