Disagreement over giving Maryam senior party post simmers in PML-N

ISLAMABAD: Disagreement over handing over Maryam Nawaz a senior post of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) simmers as former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and some other senior leaders stick to anti-Maryam stance, ARY News reported.

Earlier, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Nisar in Lahore which turned out abortive as the former failed to persuade the latter on agreeing to appoint former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter on a senior party post, sources said.

Sources said that not just Nisar was against giving her a senior post but some other senior PML-N leaders were also of the same view.

Now, Shehbaz will head to London and apprise his elder brother Nawaz about the deteriorating situation in the party over the matter.

Earlier in a statement, Nisar had said he could not accept daughter of the former PM as his political leader.

“A child is a child, how can I accept her (my) leader? Her role is so far restricted to daughter of my friend only,” he said.
