Maryam confident of Nawaz Sharif’s ‘resounding return’ in 2018 elections

ISLAMABAD: Deploring the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panamagate case, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on Friday said its ‘also’ unprecedented that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is still united and unfazed in wake of the apex court’s disqualification judgement against Nawaz Sharif.

Taking to Twitter, she said the top court’s verdict will pave the way for Nawaz Sharif’s resounding victory in General Elections 2018 while laying emphasis ‘Rok sakte ho to rok lo’ [stop us if you can].

She has been flying in the face of Panama Papers investigation and dubbing it a conspiracy against the government but her all efforts came to grief when the Supreme Court’s five-judge bench on Friday declared Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ineligible to rule in the much-awaited verdict in the Panama Papers case.

The premier’s daughter has remained averse to Panamagate probe and put her all diehard efforts to establish an opinion that the opposition parties have been concocting false and baseless allegations against the Sharif family but all her efforts went in vain with the top court’s final verdict in the case today.

Here are the tweets of Maryam Nawaz which she made during the Panama Papers probe:

Panama Papers never about Corruption, Losers in danger:

Claiming Panama Papers were never about corruption, Maryam dubbed the International Consortium of Journalists as group of stealers and hackers on May 2 while claiming even they did not say it was about corruption.

In a subsequent tweet, she further said that the misery of journalists who broke the Panama scandal story is understandable and their all efforts to bring the government down would come to a naught.

These tweets were made before the formation of Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and Supreme Court’s April 20 verdict.

But this did not end here, as after the formation of probing team tasked to investigate money trail for Sharif family’s offshore properties, she decried the Panamagate investigation while declaring it a conspiracy against the government.

We Salute Daughters, not Ranks

After becoming subject to severe criticism for receiving excessive protocol and authorities saluting her during her appearance before Panamagate JIT, Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on July 7 responded to cyber vigilantes by stating that respect comes from heart.

She turned up for a grilling session with the probing team on July 5 (Wednesday) after reaching the Federal Judicial Academy in convoy of 11 cars amid stringent security measures.

A footage depicting a lady senior superintendent of police (SSP) Arsala saluting Maryam went viral, raising concerns of people on the matter as why the premier’s daughter receiving warm salutation merely on basis of blood ties as she does not hold any public office.

The twitterati targeted Maryam on the matter including many politicians and other professionals from various walks of life.

Maryam Nawaz in her tweet said: “We salute the daughters, not the ranks! If they respect you, respect them back! All salutes are not protocol. Respect comes from the heart.”

Interestingly, one of the cyber vigilante posed a question towards her whether her father, Nawaz Sharif, ever saluted her.

No one can fight political battle better than PML-N

On July 9, Without quoting any name of a politician and political party, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz said that no one can wage a political battle better than Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

The tweets were made on eve of Panamagate JIT’s 60-days final report. In the tweet she said:

“Woh mard nahi jo dar jae ……” [He is not a man who fears].

These tweets surfaced at a time when the entire opposition was holding PML-N responsible to ensure appearance of Qatari Prince before the probing team being sole witness in the case.

“The prince could come to Pakistan for hunting houbara bustard but could not turn up for recording statement,” Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Secretary Information Shafqat Mahmood had then said.

You can conspire, connive, envy & fret, but you can’t fight destiny

On July 25, confident Maryam Nawaz addressed the opponents that they could conspire, connive, envy and fret but could not fight destiny while insinuating Panamagate’s final verdict in favour of the premier.

APRIL 20 VERDICT, PML-N CELEBRATIONS

With announcement of Supreme Court’s April 20 orders for formation of Joint Investigation Team, the premier’s daughter was still confident that her family would vindicate themselves in the case as she shared celebration pictures in her tweet.
