ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Marvi Memon has been appointed to a seat of World Bank’s Advisory Council on Gender and Development.
Marvi, who is in Washington to attend the Annual Spring Meetings of World Bank and International Monetary Fund, said the appointment is an honour for her and the country.
She gave a briefing about the performance of BISP and urged the World Bank partners to use the National Data Registry compiled by BISP for their development programs.
Marvi Memon vowed to advance efforts for poverty alleviation and women empowerment across the world.
The chairperson also held meetings with officials of the World Bank including the World Bank South Asia Region`s Vice President Annette Dixon.
