HAFIZABAD: A man has been arrested along with a woman accomplice by police in Hafizabad district of the Punjab province, a year after he murdered his pregnant wife to marry another girl.
According to police in Hafizabad, a man identified as Qaiser and his female accomplice has been arrested and they had confessed to their crime.
Rabia, the victim, tied the knot with Qaiser after an arranged marriage, however, the latter wanted to marry another woman Nabila.
Qaiser and Nabila later planned to kill Rabi and intoxicated her and took her to a canal. They later murdered her and disposed-off the body at the canal.
The issue was declared an accident initially, however, the newly appointed district police officer (DPO) reopened the probe and arrested the suspect, who confessed to their crime during the probe.
In a somewhat similar incident previously, a man in Jalalpur Pirwala Tehsil confessed to killing his wife because he doubted her character.

The suspect, one Mumtaz, killed his wife and buried her body near his residence. Mumtaz told his brother of what he has done and that it was out of suspicion on her character.
According to the initial police probe, the man had killed his wife in what emerges as an ‘honor killing’ bid and then buried her to dispose of all the evidence. Police learned of the incident after the suspect’s brother informed them of the killing and the burial spot.
